
J. Francis Middleton began our professional public accounting practice in 1948 with the philosophy of obtaining outstanding clients who required service-oriented, quality work. His expertise in bank auditing, fraud investigations, special assignments and litigation support enabled us to establish a tradition of excellence in these areas. He retired in 1981 and passed away April 27, 2007.
We became a partnership in 1960 when Alvin E. Burns joined the firm. Alvin's leadership and background of national firm experience with the Dallas office of Touche, Ross & Company in the areas of auditing, taxation and business planning enabled the Firm to significantly expand its client services. Alvin retired in 1994.
The partnership expanded in 1977 when Daniel M. Davis joined the firm. He brought expertise in the area of estate and trust planning, administration and taxation. His background includes trust division experience with InterFirst Bank Dallas (now Bank of America) and national accounting firm experience with Touche, Ross & Company (now Deloitte & Touche LLP) in Dallas. Dan retired in 1999.
Karl V. Springer started with MBD after graduating from Texas A&M University, and was promoted from Tax Manager to Executive Vice President and Shareholder in 1990. With over twenty years of experience in a wide variety of client service areas, Karl was elected to succeed Alvin Burns as Managing Director, resulting in the third succession in the firm's leadership. Karl's expertise in computers and accounting software created a new area of service for our clients, which is available today through our affiliate company, Sagiss, LLC.
Paul A. Parker began his career at MBD after graduating from Baylor University in 1985. He became a Shareholder in 1998 and was elected President of the firm in 1999. Paul's career at MBD reflects 18 years of extensive auditing, accounting, and taxation experience in many diverse industries. Paul offers experience in acquisition due diligence and currently heads the firm's business assurance practice.
Peter G. Robbins joined MBD in 1998 after seven years with Ernst & Young LLP and four years with Grant Thornton LLP. Peter became a shareholder in 1999. He has extensive experience in business and individual tax compliance and consulting, representation before the IRS, and accounting and entity issues for start-up companies. In addition, Peter works closely with individuals in tax planning, business consulting, and estate and trust planning and compliance.
Robin E. Long joined MBD in 1981 after spending eleven years with another local public accounting firm. Robin has spent over thirty years focusing on estate and trust taxation, and individual taxation planning and compliance. Robin, a corporate officer, retired in 2005.
Randy D. Netek joined MBD as a Senior Accountant in 1997 after four years with Grant Thornton, LLP. Randy was promoted to Officer in 2002 and now serves as head of the tax department. Randy has extensive experience in individual, partnership, and corporate taxation. He also has expertise in international taxation, IRS representation, and business advisory services.
