Professional Development
MBD provides continued education through an extensive professional development program. In your initial stages of employment, you will receive close, personal attention from seniors, managers and officers. This guidance and counsel will help you develop your skills to better serve clients and increase your professional stature. As a result, in your first year with MBD, you will work in a variety of areas, ranging from tax to audit to special projects.
MBD believes that ongoing training, consistent mentoring, and professional involvement will serve to expand your versatility and professional development.
- Ongoing Training
Your education does not stop after your first year. Professional education is a continuing process. In addition to in-house training on a variety of subjects, you will also attend seminars and programs which cover such topics as auditing, taxation, business services, and personal development skills. During the first two years of your employment, you will receive formal audit and tax training through AICPA sponsored courses. In addition, you will have the opportunity to select advanced courses in your areas of special interest. You will participate in at least 40 hours of continuing professional education annually. MBD also financially supports your professional development.
- Mentoring
Feedback on your performance is offered throughout the year. We also mentor you through a combination of ongoing personal feedback and a formal annual review. Each team member has a voice in this process. We even offer you an opportunity to review the supervisory team and firm management through a 360o performance review process.
- Professional Involvement
Because we are selective in our choice of professionals, MBD encourages you to engage in client contact and consultation. We introduce you to the clients you are serving as early in the relationship as possible. We want you to feel personally accountable to your clients and to grow as they grow. This is a vital part of your professional development and is an integral part of your success.
We also encourage you to cultivate new clients and recognize opportunities to provide additional services to our present clients. We receive the majority of our new clients through various referral sources. Beginning your first day at MBD, we assist you in developing a network of business contacts, and we provide practice development benefits to encourage your involvement.
We support our employees' commitment to professional organizations and encourage team members to join the AICPA, Texas Society and Dallas Chapter of CPA's.
Staff members are also involved in civic and community activities. Currently, we have individuals who participate in organizations such as The Center for Nonprofit Management, O.P.E.N. Inc., Dallas Suicide and Crisis Center, The Bridge Breast Network, Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, UNT Alumni Advisory Board, SMU Business Associate Program, and many others. We want you to be involved!
